• The 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz designations refer to two radio frequency bands used by the Wi-Fi network to transmit its signal.
• The 2.4 GHz frequency is the historical frequency, used by the majority of connected objects. It transmits over longer distances than 5 GHz.
• The 5 GHz frequency is newer and less saturated and has a maximum speed greater than 2.4 GHz.
• These frequencies are both efficient, the choice of one or the other depends on your usage.
• If you have a dual-band Wi-Fi router, you can distribute the frequencies on your devices.

If your router supports both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, but only one Wi-Fi name is displayed on your cell phone's Wi-Fi search page, follow these steps:

• Go to the Wireless page on your router. (The input address is usually provided on the label attached to the back of the router.)
• Go to the 2.4 GHz configuration page and set the Wi-Fi name (SSID) to xxx-2.4G, where xxx is the Wi-Fi name. Save the settings.
• Go to the 5 GHz configuration page and set the Wi-Fi name (SSID) to xxx-5G, where xxx is the Wi-Fi name. Save the settings.
• After you complete the previous settings, the new Wi-Fi names will appear on the Wi-Fi settings page of your cell phone.

Note: Once you have changed the Wi-Fi names, you will need to reconnect devices that use this wireless router. The password remains the same if it has not been changed.
